The U.S. Constitution requires that the U.S. president be a natural born citizen although the Framers of the U.S. Constitution failed to define citizenship. It was not until 1868 that citizenship was defined by the 14th Amendment although contemporary debate has emerged about its interpretation. This session will focus on key citizenship Supreme Court debates and contemporary citizenship issues.
