Since the July 4,1776, signing of the Declaration of Independence, these 250 years of the “American experiment” have witnessed many historic events that shaped our nation. Once the motion picture debuted in the early 20th century, Hollywood began producing countless iconic movies that spotlighted the people, places, issues and growth of the United States through these tumultuous and celebratory times.
This lecture will examine how the American film industry has depicted these iconic American moments. Includes clips from Yankee Doodle Dandy, San Francisco (1936), and The Grapes Of Wrath.
