If you have ever watched a courtroom drama and thought “I could argue that case!” or “I wish I could be on that jury!”, now’s your chance. Led by experienced attorney and law professor Henry Webb, The Great Debate: Courtroom Edition is an interactive program where participants step into the roles of real lawyers and jurors to debate fascinating legal cases drawn from real American courtrooms.
In every session, you and your team will explore the types of questions juries actually wrestle with: Was it murder or self-defense? Should a hospital pay millions for a surgeon’s mistake? Can your employer fire you for something you said? When does a defective product make a corporation liable for your injuries? No legal background is required. Your life experience and common sense are the only credentials you need.
Here’s how it works: After reviewing the facts of a real case together, the group divides into three teams: the plaintiff’s attorneys, the defense attorneys, and the jury. While the legal teams huddle together to craft their strongest arguments, the jury discusses the key points of law they’ll need to apply. Each side then presents its case to the group, the jury renders its verdict, and the outcome from the real court case is revealed. Henry Webb will serve as the judge throughout, keeping the courtroom running smoothly and the energy high.
The Great Debate: Courtroom Edition is part game night, part courtroom drama, and part the most interesting conversation you’ll have all week. You’ll be surprised how quickly the room comes alive once the arguments start, and how hard it will be to stop talking about the case after the session ends.
