History Of American Art 2: Showing Our Pride -- Introducing America’s Uniqueness Through Art

We will be covering the history of American art, beginning in the early 1700’s through current-day. Focus will be primarily on painters and painting styles. By the end of the sessions, participants will have an understanding of how American art has developed and the impacts it has made on the global art world.
Part 2: Showing Our Pride: Introducing America’s Uniqueness Through Art
Patriotism in our young country becomes very important in the 19th century, and American art reflects this. We will discuss Native American portrayals, the effect of the Civil War, and the groundswell of societal issues that impact American art and artists.
